DIY baby carrot costume

October 7, 2014 By Jamie Dorobek 19 Comments

It’s Day 2 of Design Dazzle’s Halloween Bash, and I’m sharing another super cute (and ridiculously easy) Halloween costume idea for Maxwell! He has quite the collection for Halloween 2014, ha! We’ve done a cheeseburger, game boy, koala bear, panda bear, and now an organic carrot! I’ve got lots DIY costume ideas too! I think he actually likes my dress up games and photo shoots! Here’s Maxwell in his carrot costume enjoying a carrot!

Homemade halloween costumes for babies: DIY carrot costume! Here’s what you need to make your very own carrot costume:

  • orange onesie (Here is a good one on Amazon.)
  • 2 colors of green tulle
  • elastic
  • needle and thread
  • white mailing labels
  • thin sharpies

I have the Rit Dye in the picture because I attempted to dye the elastic green. It kind of worked, but since I tied the tuelle around the elastic you can’t see the band anyway. I’d skip that step if I were you!

I measured Maxwell’s head with the elastic and cut a piece where it would fit around his comfortably. Then, I hand stitched it together with a needle and thread. You can see my pathetic attempt at dying the elastic green in this picture…

I just cut 6 inch wide or so strips of tulle and tied them around the elastic band… easy freakin’ peasy, y’all! Then all I had to do was make the organic stickers! I used white mailing labels because I had those on hand and a quarter to to trace around and make a pretty circle…

Here’s a close up of his USDA Organic sticker and 100% natural!

I love that this costume does not mess up the onesie at all! Just take the 2 stickers off and voila, you’ve got your orange onesie back for everyday wearing! How stinkin’ cute is my giant organic carrot?! Homemade halloween costum

SO cute! My DD (now 20) was a red M&M when she was an infant. Not nearly as healthy but super cute!

This is so cute, I once dressed my youngest as a ladybird when he was a baby – just dots on a red all in one. He is 16 now so probably wont want to be a carrot any time soon but I still think it’s the cutest darn thing ever!
