While I was away on vacation the BF moved the furniture around
[better view for the world cup!]
At first, I didn’t like it all, but it has grown on me the past few days…
and now…
I can’t decide which way is better…Can you HELP me?
THANK YOU everyone for your honest feedback 🙂
The one other thing that you can’t see in the pictures in the bar stool situation…When the couch is in position #2…there is only about 18 in. between the coach and the back of the bar stool…it makes the passage way a little awkward….
Here is #1:
[how the furniture originally was]

Here is #2:
[The BF’s new arrangement]
What do you think… #1 or #2??
I agree with most of the arguments for two…I like two better as well.
I agree with most of the comments that #2 seems to make sense since it's easier to see the TV and fireplace. Your living space looks very similar to my former cottage type house and we had a very similar arrangement. How sweet of BF to move the furniture for a surprise!

I gotta say that I like arrangement #2. He did a really good job. Change is good, you know 🙂
Hate to say it but I like #2….
I like how the rug goes a different direction than the couch in #2. It seems to lengthen the room a little. But I'm anti TV focal points myself so I can understand how that might bug.
Can I say kudos to you BF for actually arranging ALL the furniture. My husband would have just moved the couch.
#2 is much better except about the door behind the sofa… but it better than # 1
I definitely like #2 the best!! I'm not great at this stuff so just take my comment as a simple suggestion but i think I would turn the rug the other way so that it runs long ways in front of the sofa instead of under it. That way it centers the room a little better to separate it from the front door area! I'd also be on the lookout for a nice sofa/foyer table and push the sofa forward a little bit to fit it! That'll make a nice entrance area!! 🙂
I like #2 :o)
definitely number 2. I like how the sofa delineates the entrance from the rest of the room. Also, the sofa which accommodates more people than a single chair, now faces the focal point, the fireplace and tv.
I love #2. Although, I can see how it took getting used to, but it looks very pulled together.
I like #2….only because the better TV viewing, just don't tell the BF I voted for his, just let him think you'll leave it like that (if you do) just because… 🙂
I like both of them. I like #1 because the TV doesn't look like the focal point of the living room. It's more the couch. I like how #2 has the back of the couch toward the door, thus creating a "foyer" type space. However, I think the vintage chair with the small round side table, doesn't anchor that corner. My opinion . . . but you have really nice things so they both look good!
I gotta say, I really like #2 arrangement best. It makes better use of the couch for viewing the fire or the tv and because the window doesn't appear "blocked" by the sofa anymore….the room seems more airy. That's just my opinion though. It's a great room, either way. (Like the punch of orange in the chair; it's unexpected.) 🙂 Pam @ Sallygoodin
I like # 2, but would just be worried about the view when you walk in the front door.
