Just in case you’re new here, I’m pregnant with baby #2! This pregnancy has been very different than my first (it’s a girl!), including the extreme speed at which my belly is expanding! This time around, 16 weeks was when the ol’ jeans needed the rubber band treatment! In my opinion, it’s best to buy maternity clothes as soon as you feel like your regular clothes are not comfortable anymore. After all, I want to get the most out of my maternity wardrobe. I took a little trip to Motherhood Maternity and got myself a few fun and stylish outfits. Y’all, I feel so much better already, maternity jeans are kind of amazing.
Oh and if we are real life friends, welcome to what I will be wearing for at least the next 20 weeks!
I wanted to make sure that all of the pieces I purchased mixed and matched and I even considered things that I might still be able to wear after pregnancy, like the fun sweater above! I much prefer maternity jeans that go over the belly as opposed to under the belly. It makes the jeans feel more secure and not like they are falling off of me. The tank top I’m wearing above is the most awesome basic tank! (Jessica Simpson Jeans $59, Scoop Neck Tank $20, Wendy Cardigan $54)
That tank comes in 6 colors. I need more! My modeling skills are limited, but I am a pro at acting like a goof. Here’s my 17-week belly!
One of the first questions the sweet sales lady at Motherhood Maternity asked me was, “What stores do you usually shop at when you are not pregnant?” Shop? I have a toddler! But, if given the chance I told her I like to shop the sale rooms at Anthropologie. She pointed me in the direction of the Wendy Bellissimo line. Lots of plaid, lace, texture, and some awesome basics. Perfection for this prego. I mean check out this top… flowy, soft, and a party in in the back! I think she’s my favorite. And I’m pretty sure I will still be wearing this even when I’m not pregnant. (Plaid top $44)
I am also super excited about this chambray top that I can wear with my big ol’ belly. I am a huge fan of button downs, but my collection of pre-prego button downs is already out the window! This top has a handy dandy slit in the back to ensure that the buttons will close over the belly for the entire pregnancy. And these floral jeans! Aren’t they the cutest?! (Floral skinny jeans $45, Chambray top $44)
This little photo shoot happened in our backyard with Andy as my photographer and Maxwell running around like a crazy man. Are you ready for some outtake cuteness? Oh, and after our little photo shoot was complete, I can 100% vouch for the movability of all of my new maternity wardrobe. Squatting, kneeling, chasing, and carrying Maxwell… everything is cozy and flexible!
17 weeks pregnant and an 18 month old Maxwell!
And I need to show you at least one good picture of the belly. Take off the sweater, stand sideways and bada bing, bada boom… there she is, folks!
Bottom line, if you’re in the market for maternity clothes, check out Motherhood Maternity sooner rather than later! Maternity jeans are your friend and cute clothes (that fit!) make you feel good!
Comments & Reviews
I love love the Jessica Simpson skinny maternity jeans. They’re the most comfortable ones that I’ve tried yet. I tried on a pair of maternity jeans at about 16 weeks and I never went back. I even told my sisters they should get some even if they’re not preggo because they feel that good. Then they proceeded to make fun of my “Thanksgiving dinner” jeans haha
BTW, love your wedges!
haha! I agree! They are so soft!! I wear those dang jeans almost every day and get a little sad when they have to go in the washer!
