Zebra: Toilet paper tube crafts

May 24, 2016 By Jamie Dorobek 2 Comments

Anyone else sad that today is the last day of the toilet paper tube crafts for kids series? Well, there will be one more round up post with a few adorable picture of all 26 animals together, but I might have to start a new tp roll craft series. These are so fun, free, and easy to make!

Here’s what you need to make the toilet paper roll yak:

  • 1 toilet paper roll
  • Scissors
  • Single hole punch
  • Pencil
  • Sharpie marker
  • Glue
  • White scrap paper
  • Cereal box

Grab your empty cereal box and doodle on the zebra head. Remember, erasers are your bff! The zebra head is pretty simple, an oval with a flat top and 2 triangular ears. Once you like the zebra’s head shape, outline it with black marker and cut it out of the cereal box! Add 2 stripes on each side of his nose, a black nose, and color in the inside of the ears. Next, hole punch out two circles for the eyes and glue them to the top of the zebra’s head. Don’t forget to add the 2 black pupils to the eyes, it makes such a difference! Next, use a pencil to draw 2 front legs on your zebra, outline them with black marker, and cut them out with scissors. Doodle on a few stripes to your zebra’s belly and then glue the head to the top of the zebra body!

I’m kind of loving my toilet paper roll zebra’s school pic, ha! It’s a zebra in the headlights!

And now for a few fun facts about zebras:

  • Just like human fingerprints, a zebra’s stripe pattern is unique to the individual.
  • Zebras can run up to 40mph. They combine speed with excellent stamina and zig-zagging motions to try and escape predators.
  • Infant zebras (foals) are able to stand, walk and suck shortly after birth, and will continue to drink their mother’s milk for the first year of life.
  • Like horses, zebras sleep standing up, and usually only when in the safety of a group.

So, have any of y’all made any tp tube animal crafts yet? I’d love to see!
