Fried Oreos

November 2, 2011 By Jamie Dorobek 15 Comments

Some say a picture is worth 1,000 words…

You’re drooling. I know it! They’re unbelievably delicious. Andy is an Oreo monster. He routinely eats whole rows of Oreos in a single sitting. Andy is typically an Oreo (and milk) purist, but he approved of the crispy fried covering and soft gooey Oreo center! The fried Oreo is an Annie special. She found the recipe at a tailgate! It’s super simple… and made with pancake batter. Make sure you get the pancake mix that is just add water…

Mix up the pancake batter. Cover Oreos in batter and place in frying pan with 1-2 inches of vegetable oil. Cook on each side until golden brown. You can see cooked v. uncooked in the picture below…
Roll in powder sugar and devour the deliciousness.

It’s like a funnel cake with a gooey Oreo middle!

Have you ever had a fried Oreo? A fried twinkie? I love fried pickles. Anyone else an unusual fried favorite? Or are you an Oreo purist too? I’d love to hear…

Pillsbury Hungry Jack Flaky Layers biscuits FRIED!! 🙂 Separate them into layers, fry and dip them in sugar and cinnamon. You must use a flaky layer biscuit that is not as large as the Grands biscuit. If you want to fry biscuits without the sugar and cinnamon: Try the Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers biscuits. Again; separate them into layers and then fry them. Then try a fried egg on top. I have a small pan that shapes the egg to the right size but you can use a metal cookie cutter on a flat-surfaced pan or muffin tin in the oven…use plenty of oil though. Pretty yummy.

Wow, I just gained 5 pounds by reading this post but it was so worth it! I usually splurge on one of these at the state fair but might have to try my hand at making them myself now.

They are AMAZING i promise! Just make sure your oil isn' too hot, or your oreos will fry too fast and stay crunchy on the inside 🙂

How long can you keep these after they are fried?

This sounds delicious! Going to put it on my project list.

The most unusual thing I have heard of fried, but have not tried, is a fried Snickerz -A gal at work had a cookbook of State Fair recipes from around the US and this was in it. The reason it sounded so odd is that the batter was mostly baking soda, a little bit of flour and water.

Wow! I have never seen that. It's amazing all the treats you can deep fry. The only ones I've had are deep fried ice cream and a deep fried mars bar. Nothing special but the deep fried ice cream is my favourite.

Do you put it in a batter are just drop it in hot oil? How long do I leave it? That’s as original as the fried Oreo. Thanks for the great suggestion!
