10 4th of July crafts
These Independence Day crafts for kids use things you likely have on hand like paint chips, rocks, toilet paper tubes, and doilies. So, get the creative juice and patriotic spirit flowing!
1. Paint chip flag
Use paint chips, construction paper, or even magazines to turn a poster board into a United States of America flag!
2. Firecracker craft
Turn a spent toilet paper tube into a firecracker painting device with a pair of scissors and paint.
3. Patriotic rock painting
Use red, white, and blue paint to turn rocks (or sticks) into patriotic masterpieces. Hide the rocks in parks for others to find!
4. Doily fireworks
Use paper doilies as stencils to make fireworks on white paper. If the doilies have blank centers like ours did, consider using the other end of the paintbrush to make dots and lines to fill the center of the fireworks. (Here’s a great deal on paper doilies!)
5. Paper chain flag
This is a great group craft, and all you need is construction paper and a stapler! See all of the paper chain details at The Fine Art of Motherhood.
4th of July crafts to wear
Fair warning, there is a lot of tie dye on this list, but that’s because tie dye is fun and kids love it! Plus a red, white, and blue tie dye t-shirt comes in handy for all of the patriotic holidays including Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Independence Day.
6. Sandpaper t-shirts
Did you know you can transfer any drawing from sandpaper to a cotton t-shirt with an iron? Who knew?!
7. Tie dye t-shirts
We love to tie dye! We made these patriotic t-shirts to wear for 4th of July using this Tulip tie dye kit. I love that the kit comes with dye already in the easy squeeze bottles and all you need is water to activate. The tie dye kit comes with everything you need except the cotton t-shirts.
8. Tie dye manicures
Did you know you can tie dye your nails? For a patriotic look simply use red, white and blue nail polish! Find the easy DIY tie dye nail tutorial at C.R.A.F.T.
9. DIY Painted flag shorts
Turn a pair of blue jean shorts into stars and stripes with paint and a star stencil. Find the full tutorial at Popcosmo.
10. Tie dye flag towels
There’s a lot of tie dye on this list, but that’s because tie dye is fun! The trick the American flag towels is 100% cotton towels and the right folding technique. Check out Live Free Creative for the details.
