C.R.A.F.T. #50: Neck Roll Pillow

June 1, 2010 By Jamie Dorobek 30 Comments

What can you do with s t r e t c h e d out leggings and a crusty, old pillow? How about make a neck roll pillow!
DIY neck roll pillow
All you need is:
  • old leggings
  • crusty, old pillow
  • fabric scraps
  • string
simple sewing project
Wrap pillow with any kind of string...this is the only way you will get that pillow in the legging hole! You will cut the string out later.

Stuff pillow in legging…this is tricky, but it can be done! Then, cut the strings off of the pillow.

Sew up the ends of the pillow…I did this step by hand. Now, it’s time for embellishments…I just cut circles out of lots of scrap fabric, and laid them on top of each other. Then, I literally just sewed right over the circles of fabric in a zig zag pattern.

I hand stitched the scrappy flowers onto the pillow, and voila!

What do you think? Easy enough, right? And totally cute!

Oh I love this!! I especially LOVE the embellishments!!
One secret though- about stuffing the pillow-
Wrap the pillow in a garbage bag, leave a spot open use your vacuum attachment to suck the air out of the bag and the pillow while the vacuum is still going and holding the air out of the pillow shove that bad boy into a pillow case or cover.
Then turn off the vacuum and remove trash bag.
My family owned a upholstery biz, and this is a remake of their technique =]. hope it helps.

What a terrific, fun concept! How clever to temporarily tie the pillow before stuffing…..YEAH! Very innovative and attractive pillows; love it!
