How to embroider burlap

February 10, 2014 By Jamie Dorobek 13 Comments

Wanna have a  craft party? You know I do! If you live in Austin, you can come craft with me at the Michaels on Research Blvd! But no worries if you don’t live in my neck of the woods because Michaels and Hometalk are hosting 100 craft parties all across the USA and Canada on February 16! So, check out this list of Pinterst parties for one (hopefully) near you! I’ll be crafting up this fun little embroidered burlap project!

How to embroider burlap

Embroidering burlap is easy peasy. I’ll be making another one at the party, but this little guy is going to live in a gallery wall in the nursery! All you need is:

  • a burlap canvas
  • floss in any color
  • a piece of paper and a pen
  • an embroidery needle (not pictured)
  • tape (not pictured)

How to embroider burlap

And here’s how to embroider burlap: 1) Make a template with a piece of paper and your fanciest cursive! Tape your stencil to your canvas. 2) Then, thread your embroider needle and start stitching. Burlap makes it easy because it has natural holes in the fabric. It takes a little patience, but it’s not hard. Oh and don’t worry about the back of your masterpiece! Mine is messy, and I like it. 3) Rip off the paper, use your needle to get the little pieces out.

I’ll also bought some fun chalkboard pennants to craft with at the party! Not 100% sure what I’m going to do with those bad boys!

Here’s how the Pinterest Party works, Michaels has multiple end caps set up with projects inspired by Pinterest. You can see the end caps in my store below.  We want you to be inspired by a Pinterest project and make it your own! I was inspired by the burlap canvas, but didn’t use paint or an initial at all. I embroidered it.  So, you buy supplies to make a fun project (it does not have to be from the Pinterest end caps, that’s just for inspiration!) and then come hang out and craft with me! There will be freebies too. And maybe treats, if I’m feeling crazy, ha!

I really hope to meet you at the craft party!
