Mom Inspiration #3: Etched Glass

July 22, 2010 By Jamie Dorobek 4 Comments

I have declared July 20-24, 2010
mom inspiration week!
my mom is very crafty…
she does BIG crafts like

tiles, wallpapers, stencils, busts out cabinets, and paints everything (including T.V.’s)

Mom Inspiration #1:Etched Glass Cabinet

My mom thought her cabinets were to plain. She wanted some variety. So, she decided to bust out 4 of them, and replace them with etched glass… Go, Mom!

The ones on the right are the before.

Here is how to get this look
  • Find a nice glass store to cut the perfect size piece of glass.
  • Use auto pin striping tape to mark out your design. Mom used pin striping tape because it is thin.
  • Spray piece of glass withfrosted glass spray.
  • Insert glass into cabinet.

Here is a close up of the hardware used to insert the glass panel.

And here is the final look of the etched glass kitchen cabinets.

Have you ever etched glass? How do you feel about glass cabinet doors? These are nice alternative to clear glass because they still provide coverage from the inside content. My mom loves hers!

Love this idea. I wonder about doing something similar on shower doors… should work, right? Thanks!

I wish my mom were that crafty! How inspiring–I didn't even know Hobby Lobby had that glass frosting spray. I'll have to check it out next time I'm there.
