My kiddos go back to school on August 28th! It will be Mila’s first year of preschool and Max’s 3rd year of preschool. (How is that possible?!) These back to school fish treats were inspired by this cheesy valentine’s idea I made a few years ago. If you’ve been reading C.R.A.F.T. for any amount of time, you know I heart cheesy sayings and have made up 100’s for Valentine’s Day! For the gold fish back to school treat version, I decided to make the printable big enough to fit a snack sized Ziplock bag. Because the more snacks the better. Duh.
Here’s what you need to make this back to school gift
- Goldfish (or Swedish fish)
- Ziplock bags
- Stapler
- Scissors
- Download the free printable
How to make the goldfish back to school gift
These are the perfect little back to school gift for kids this year!
Step 1- Download the free printable
To download the “I’m so glad we’re in the same school this year” free printable, just enter your name and email address below and the free file will be delivered to your inbox! The free first day printable comes with 3 bag toppers per page.
Step 2- Print
Once you get the bag topper printed, this craft is easy peasy. Seriously though, getting things printed at my house is such an ordeal. The printer never has ink or my little people press all of the buttons and make the printer go bonkers. I almost always end up at Staples for printing these days which is silly.
Step 3- Cut & sign
Use scissors to cut around the dotted lines. Then, have your child write their name on the “From” line of the bag topper. It’s way easier to write on before it is attached to the zip lock bag.
Step 4- Fill and attach
Fill the zip lock bag with some sort of fish treat, either Goldfish or Swedish Fish. Then, fold the bag topper over the plastic bag and use a stapler to attach it the the bag.
If goldfish aren’t your thing, I’ve got a cute, free printable for chocolate chip cookies.
Are you a sweet or salty snacker? I’d choose chocolate any day, but my 3 year old is a salty dude all the way!
Comments & Reviews
These are super-cute! Thanks for the inspiration and ideas – I love back to school too. There’s nothing quite like fresh, clean stationery for the start of a new school year!
Glad I’m not alone 😉
Nope – you’re definitely not alone! Stationery stores are my happy place 🙂 And my favorite scents include brand new books, notepads and scented pens!!
No. Please!!! Don’t put more pressure on to give out stuff!!
haha! No pressure given here 🙂 Everyone is good at something, and making small “punny” treats is my thing. I wish I was the room mom type who could whip up yummy food for a classroom!
