C.R.A.F.T. # 55: Goodwill Shelf Makeover

July 31, 2010 By Jamie Dorobek 24 Comments

I have a confession…
I love Good Will... [shop/give] LOVE it ALL. it is fun for me…
I LOVE to get rid of stuff, there are always new things,
always cheap, and it is a form of recycling!

Continuing the effort to fix up my multi-purpose room, I took a little trip to Goodwill to look for shelving options…
Here is what I found:
Lovely, right? The BF told me the square shelf  looks like it should hold his  grand ma’s spoon collection on a wall.

Not to worry, a little love can fix these right up 🙂

First, the BF helped me bust out the fancy, curvy, stuff on the square shelf.
I used the same spray paint I used for the desk makeover.
Third, the BF helped me hang them on the wall 🙂
all of the glass containers came from good will too…
59 cents a piece 🙂

I made some hand written labels to organize craft supplies!

What a great and practical idea. Goodwill is a fabulous crafters place to give back and help others while you are creating new things out of old.

Hi! I am a new follower! so happy to find another Thriftaholic! What is it about thrift stores, a can of spray paint and some bits and bobs no-one else wants that get us just SO excited? LOL! Like you I just LOVE making something lovely from something old and unwanted! My only sadness is that my nearest thrift store is some 400 KM away, but boy when I do go there… well!

Looking forward to seeing more of your ideas!

I feel the SAME way about Good Will…and DI (Desert Industries). 50% days are the greatest!!!

Your finds are AWESOME!!!! The dowel for ribbon is genius! My hubby did the same thing for me when he built my craft shelves 🙂 Love the color and love the improvements! They really are the best shelves!!

I love the idea of using different shaped glasses as an alternative to glass jars. They look so cool and funky when they're sort of mis-matched (but not)!
