Father’s Day Ideas

May 19, 2020 By Jamie Dorobek 7 Comments

Father’s Day is right around the corner, and I wanted to share my genius Father’s Day idea that doubles as a gift and also happens to be my favorite picture of the year! This Father’s Day tradition makes gift giving every year simple and best part? Mom will love it too!

Our Father’s Day Tradition

I buy Andy and Maxwell matching t-shirts, and last year Mila got in on the action. I’m not totally a terrible wife, I always pair the matching t-shirts with a gift certificate for a massage. (If you live in Austin, Mantis Massage has been our go to for over 5 years!)

Father's Day Ideas

The “Lettuce Turnip the Beet” t-shirts you see in the picture above was the first set I bought when Maxwell was just 3 months old. (This is not a sponsored post, I’m just obsessed with Dad and kid twinning!) I got these tees from the coup etsy store.

I searched and searched, and finally decided on these adorable Little Dipper/ Big Dipper t-shirts from the Blackbird Supply Co. It’s harder than you might think to find hip matching father/ kid t-shirts that Andy will actually want to wear again and again. Part of the trick is Andy wanting to wear the t-shirt all of the time. That way when I see him put it on in the morning, I can sneak the matching t-shirts on Maxwell and Mila, and bam… “random” twinning all day, everyday!

For Andy’s 3rd Father’s Day, I took a short cut, and went back to Lettuce Turnip the Beet tees.  I seriously love these tee’s and this time around, I only needed to buy 1 to complete the set. Mila could wear Max’s old one and Andy already had the t-shirt. So, I only bought one t-shirt for Maxwell.

This year, I ordered a new t-shirt set and I’m obsessed! I got The Original, The ENcore, and The REmix from KaAn’s Designs.  How cute are they? I know I’m biased, but come on!

Pizza is always a winner in our house, so these t-shirts were perfect! These super cute pizza t-shirts are from Xeno Tees.

Andy loves Seinfeld, so I decided to DIY a few Seinfeld inspired t-shirts for my crew using my Cricut Joy electronic cutting machine. They turned out perfect!

I used a few of our favorite Seinfeld quotes:

  • Serenity now
  • These pretzels are making me thirsty
  • No soup for you

I hope we can keep this tradition up for years to come. Can you imagine the cuteness of all 18 matching Father’s Day pictures at Maxwell and Mila’s high school graduation parties?!

Handmade Google Father's Day Card

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20th! Order matching tees now and thank me later. This year, I’m planning on having the kids DIY another set of matching t-shirts for Dad. I’ll give you one hint: It’s going to be groovy 😉

Thank you so much for this great idea. I just found some on lil punkers and I can’t wait for them to get here. I got one that said Jedi Master and the other is Jedi Master in Training. They have watched all the star wars movies together and I think this is a great gift. Adding the massage card as well.

I love these! I’m going to do something similar for my husband with a “You’re killing me smalls” shirt and “smalls” and “extra smalls” shirts for the kids. Totally loving your gift this year!
