10 Earth Day Crafts

April 21, 2022 By Jamie Dorobek Leave a Comment

Earth Day is everyday in my book, but it is celebrated around the globe on April 22nd! Double knot those laces because most of these crafts involve a nature walk!

1. Trash Monster

Collect trash and make something! Dump out the recycle bin and let the kids go wild. Talk to them about reusing things and being nice to the Earth. My kids love making trash monsters!

2. DIY Bird Feeder

All you need for this DIY bird feeder is an empty toilet paper tube, peanut butter and bird seed! DIY bird feeder

3. Nature cake

A nature cake is a great way to utilize all of the treasures you find on a nature walk or nature scavenger hunt. Simply, hot glue to cardboard boxes together and then spray shaving cream in a bowl. Let the kids “ice the cake” with shaving cream and then decorate with the cake with their collection.

4. Paint rocks

Take the kids on a nature walk and collect a few flat rocks. Bring them home and paint!

5. Cereal box puzzles

This is another great Earth craft to show kids how to turn trash into something new! It’s simple process and would be extra cool if you made an Earth puzzle!

6. Nature art

Collect nature and turn it into pictures! Faces are always a winner with my kids. Consider making letters and numbers to up this Earth day craft to educational!

7. Nature bracelets

I like to pair this with a nature scavenger hunt. It’s as simple as taping a peice of masking tape around your wrist with the sticky side out.

8. Nature scavenger hunt

All Earth day crafts should start with a nature scavenger hunt. Make a simple check list of nature things you know the kids can find on the trail. Take a look at my list below for some easy ideas.

9. Composting for kids

Teach kids how the Earth recycles with this simple, free downloadable coloring sheet. Then, get outside and start composting. Compost only needs 6 ingredients and I promise you have them all in your backyard right now!

10. Plant seeds

What better way to teach kids about our Earth than watching something grow from a seed. It can be as simple as a few grass seeds in a paper cup or watching a bean sprout in a plastic bag. Currently my kids have sunflowers growing in out front yard and a small potted garden sorrel lettuce and beans.
