C.R.A.F.T. #87: Personalized Baby Shower Gift

October 7, 2011 By Jamie Dorobek 31 Comments

I was inspired by pinterest. Shocker!  That wonderful addicting site, has my brain going crazy every stinkin’ night! I made this as a gift for my BFF’s baby boy’s nursery. (Remember the beach inspired baby shower?)

Here is the inspiration art from pinterest, originally from THIS etsy store. (You can buy a personalized poster for $15) She has another really cute ABC poster too.

Personalized Children's Printable Poster

Funny thing is, I made the print, framed it, and it wasn’t until I was about to wrap it up that I realized something was missing…

I just decided to leave out the “S”. No big deal. Just one of the 26 letters of our alphabet!  I re-arranged and added the “S” back into the alphabet.

As for the details, the frame is an 8×10 from Wal Mart for $3. I printed it on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock and cut it down to fit the frame. I spray painted it blue (which I already had in the stash). Don’t forget to spray paint the backside of the frame too. It makes it look more pro-fesh!handmade baby gift

I was pretty happy with how it turned out. If you have a baby boy named Jonah and want the print, you can download it with the link above. Oh and here is a sneak peak at the personalized, recycled wrapping paper. And I made the stuffed owl out of t-shirts so he is extra soft!

I really enjoy making and giving handmade gifts. One day, a long time from now, when I have  kids I would like to do a handmade Christmas. Maybe I’m crazy? Have you ever tried that? Do you have a go to favorite handmade gift? Do tell…
UPDATE: I made this on using Microsoft Word with Century Gothic and the ABC’s are in 100 size. You will have to work with the spacing and the size of the name at the bottom.

Could you tell me which font & what size you used? I’m trying to make this for a baby shower this Saturday and I’m having a hard time keeping everything on one page.
    Thanks!

My son's name actually IS Jonah! I'd love a copy of the print if you really don't mind. It's fantastic!
