My 3 year old son is obsessed with Hot Wheels. Luckily, he only has 10 kids in his preschool class, so when I saw Hot Wheels on a buy on get one free special at the grocery store, I couldn’t resist. Car Valentines are perfect for my son to hand out to his classmates this year. My bog bestie, Taylor, made these “I wheelie like you valentines” for C.R.A.F.T. readers back in 2013, and I loved them so much I made an updated version to fit on a Hot Wheel package. I also made a second version complete with a checkered race flag because a certain 3 year old loves the race flag!

To be honest, I was a little nervous about how Maxwell would react to the idea of giving Hot Wheel cars away on Valentines Day. I knew I needed to prep him to the idea of giving every kiddo in his class a car. After all, he knows if one of his 78 cars is missing. I’m serious. If number 7 blue race car is lost, he knows about it.
When he gets a new car, he introduces it to the crew of cars that live in the back of a giant dump truck. Some of the cars sleep with him in his bed. Currently, the monster trucks. This kiddo loves cars. All of that to say, watching him help me make the Valentines for his friends at school was adorable. He picked out who would like each car best based on various things he has noticed at school.
“I’m going to give Charlotte the yellow race car because she has a yellow pack pack.”
It was adorable. I’m so thankful I talked to him about the car valentines before Valentines Day! In fact, he is so excited to give the cars to his friends at school that we made a paper chain countdown so that he knows exactly how many days are left until Valentine’s Day!
