80 DIY Halloween costumes

September 26, 2014 By Jamie Dorobek 25 Comments

Me and 80+ blog buddies got together to bring you 80+ DIY Halloween costumes, including Maxwell’s cheeseburger costume and DIY game boy oneisie costume. How stinkin’ cute is this giant cheeseburger?

DIY Baby Hamburger costume

Along with my DIY cheeseburger costume, I’m sharing 88+ more really awesome handmade costume ideas from talented bloggers everywhere!

101+ Handmade Halloween costumes at Creating Really Awesome Free Things

Here’s what you need to make a DIY cheeseburger costume

  • Felt (4 pieces of tan, and 1 piece of the following beige, yellow, red, green
  • A sewing machine
  • Stuffing
  • Fabric scissors
  • Velcro
  • Brown onesie

How to make a DIY Cheeseburger costume

First, cut out your cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce out of the felt… This is so not a precise process! Here are my pieces:

DIY Baby burger costume

I used yellow thread and sewed everything to the cheese. To make the top burger bun, I cut 2 round-ish circles out of the brown felt.  For the sesame seeds, I sewed on small beige ovals to one circle. I left a little hole to stuff and then sewed up the hole by machine.

Here’s what the cheeseburger topping look like from the top.

Then, just add Velcro to all of the pieces and stick the cute baby in his brown onesie. Velcro everything up and take a tasty little bite of that cheese burg! Maxwell likes the lettuce!

If you’ve got a crawler, put the top bun on his back! Either way is pretty dang adorable!
